Q: The instructions tell me to place them under my tongue, and then other instructions say to take with water. Which is correct?
A: We offer two different dosage forms: caplets and tablets. Caplets are meant to be swallowed with water while tablets will dissolve almost instantly in the mouth. Follow the directions on the label.
Q: Can I take Hyland’s Leg Cramps in advance to prevent the cramping?
A: Homeopathic medicines are not designed for prevention, rather for symptomatic relief. We don’t recommend taking these products for prevention of leg cramps, but these tablets (and our Leg Cramps Ointment) do provide fast relief of the symptoms.
Q: Why does it take longer for the caplets to bring relief?
A: Because the caplets are meant to be swallowed with water, they take a little longer to get into your system and go to work. The tablets, when dissolved in your mouth, are absorbed through the capillaries in the mouth and enter your system faster so they may bring about symptomatic relief faster.
Q: Can the leg cramp tablets be given to children and what is the youngest age?
A: Hyland’s Leg Cramps tablets are indicated for adults and children over 12 years of age.
Q: Why is the quinine in Hyland’s Leg Cramps such a small amount? When I get a prescription for quinine, it is for 200 or 300 mg.
A: In homeopathic medicine, we deal with micro-doses of active ingredients – in this case 0.0078 mg of Cinchona bark (the natural source of quinine) per tablet and 0.0143 mg/caplet – we use minute doses of the active ingredients to stimulate your body’s healing mechanism. Q: Will it interact with other medicines?
A: There are no known drug interactions with Hyland’s Leg Cramps and other medications (both prescription and non-prescription.)
Q: Will it interfere with the Coumadin I’m taking?
A: No, there are no known drug interactions between Hyland’s Leg Cramps and Coumadin.
Q: Can I take Hyland’s Leg Cramps during the day?
A: You can take Hyland’s Leg Cramps at any time of the day or night. Because the medicine is not a sedative, you can safely take it during the day.
Q: How long does it take to work?
A: Hyland’s Leg Cramps will work faster for some people and will take more time for others. The general rule of thumb is to give the medicine at least 30 minutes to fully absorb into your system before you expect results.
Q: Will I become addicted to Hyland’s Leg Cramps?
A: No, Hyland’s Leg Cramps is non-addicting.
Q: Do Hyland’s Leg Cramps tablets expire?
A: No, they don’t expire, and we don’t put expiration dates on the products, as they have been exempted from expiration dating guidelines by the FDA (CFR 211.137). The numbers that are imprinted on the edge of the labels are lot numbers – so we know from which batch your bottle was produced and exactly when the product was produced. We can track any product we make using that number.
Q: Is it kosher?
A: Hyland’s Leg Cramps contains only kosher ingredients but is not certified kosher. As with all Hyland’s products, it is manufactured using the highest standards of pharmaceutical preparation, and is deemed kosher by most rabbinic authorities.
Q: Will it show up in a drug test?
A: There are no ingredients in Hyland’s Leg Cramps that have been indicated to cause a false positive on a drug urinalysis test. There is no history of Leg Cramps causing a false positive in a drug urinalysis test.

Dairy and Lactose Intolerance
Q: I am allergic to dairy products. Is that a problem with these tablets?
A: People who are truly allergic to dairy can’t tolerate the proteins found in the dairy products. We don’t use these proteins, called casein, in the production of Hyland’s Leg Cramps. We use only the sugar component of cow’s milk, called lactose. There is rarely a problem among dairy allergy people using these products. If you are very concerned, seek the advice of a licensed health care professional before using this product.
Q: What is lactose?
A: Lactose is the sugar component of cow’s milk.
Q: What if I’m lactose intolerant? Is that a problem with these tablets?
A: People who are lactose intolerant have not yet developed the enzymes to digest lactose. Hyland’s Leg Cramps tablets contain about 175 milligrams of lactose (the sugar from cow’s milk; no protein is used) per tablet. While everyone is different, most lactose intolerant individuals need to ingest 5000 mg of lactose before they experience symptoms of intolerance. With this large margin of safety, there is rarely a problem with our products when used as directed on the label. If your physician has determined that you are specifically “Allergic to Lactose”, you should avoid our tablets. If you are very concerned, seek the advice of a licensed health care professional before using this product.
